Genie Awards winner, Annie Potts is an American actress, known for her appearances in 1980s movies Ghostbusters II, Ghostbusters, Jumpin’ Jack Flash, Pretty in Pink, and Who’s Harry Crumb? As of 2018, she portrays the lead role of Meemaw on the CBS series Young Sheldon.

She was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in 1979 for her big-screen debut in the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer comedy film, Corvette Summer. Potts has been married four times and has three children. Her fourth husband James Hayman is an American television producer, director as well as a cinematographer.

Annie Potts was born Anne Hampton Potts on 28th October 1952 in Nashville, Tennessee, the U.S. She belongs to white-American ethnicity and holds an American nationality.

Potts is the youngest child of her parents, Powell Grisette Potts and Dorothy Harris Potts. She grew up along with her sisters, Mary Eleanor Hovious and Elizabeth Grissette Potts in Franklin, Kentucky.

Potts graduated from the Franklin-Simpson High School in 1970. She then joined Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, where she earned a bachelor's degree in fine arts. Potts suffered from a car accident at the age of 21, which left several bones below her waist broken.
