Christopher Hemsworth popularly known as Chris Hemsworth is an Australian actor. He rose to fame after starring in the Australian TV series, Home and Away. He is best known for portraying the role of  Thor in the Marvel film series since 2011.  His other movie credit includes A Perfect Getaway, Blackhat, Snow White and the Huntsman, Rush, and Vacation. He is one of the highest paid actors in the world and as of 2018, his estimated net worth is $70 million.

Hemsworth married Spanish actress Elsa Pataky in 2010. The duo is proud parents of three children, a daughter, and twin son. Currently, he resides in Byron Bay in his native country along with his wife and kids. 

Early Life And Education Of Chris Hemsworth

Chris Hemsworth was born Christopher Hemsworth on August 11, 1983, in  Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.  He is the middle child of  Leonie (née van Os), an English teacher, and Craig Hemsworth, a social-services counselor.

He was raised along with his brothers Luke Hemsworth and Liam Hemsworth in Melbourne and Bulman. Both of his brothers are actors. 

Hemsworth is Australian and belongs to the mixed ethnicity (Dutch and Irish). He stated,

"My earliest memories were on the cattle stations up in the Outback, and then we moved back to Melbourne and then back out there and then back again. Certainly, most of my childhood was in Melbourne but probably my most vivid memories were up there in Bulman with crocodiles and buffalo. Very different walks of life."

Hemsworth completed his high school from Heathmont College before his family returned to Northern Territory.  After few years, his family relocated to Phillip Island.

He studied American English at Screenwise Film & TV School for Actors in Sydney, Australia. 

Chris Hemsworth's Career

Chris Hemsworth started his acting career in 2002, appearing in Canadian/Australian fantasy television series, Guinevere Jones in a minor role as King Arthur in two episodes. Then he appeared in various TV series like Neighbours, Marshall Law, Home and Away but his appearances go uncredited. 

In 2006, Hemsworth participated in the fifth installment of Dancing with the Stars Australia. He partnered with professional dancer, Abbey Ross and was eliminated after six weeks. He worked in two movies, American media franchise, Star Trek and American thriller adventure film, A Perfect Getaway in 2009.

Then he moved to the United States to pursue his Hollywood career and was featured in 2010 American independent crime-thriller film, Ca$h (2010), his first movie after he moved to the US. In November 2010, he gained recognition as one of the young male actors who is "pushing – or being pushed" onto the Hollywood "A-List". 

Hemsworth rose to fame after he was cast as Thor in the 2011 Marvel Studio superhero movie alongside Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Colm Feore, and many others.  He put on 20 pounds of muscles for his character as Thor.

Hemsworth also reprised the role in American superhero films, The Avengers (2012) and Thor: The Dark World (2013), both the movies were commercially successful.

Hemsworth portrayed the role of Huntsman opposite Kristen Stewart in American fantasy film, Snow White and the Huntsman, based on German fairy tale "Snow White". Apart from action movies, he also starred in the American horror comedy movie, The Cabin in the Woods.

Some of his screen credit includes Red Dawn, Rush, Blackhat, Vacation, In the Heart of the Sea, Snow White and the Huntsman, The Cabin in the Woods, The Saddle Club, Fergus McPhail, and Home and Away among others. 

In 2015, Hemsworth appeared in an adventure-drama film, In the Heart of the Sea for which he put on a diet of 500–600 calories a day to lose weight.  The movie was based on the book of the same name by Nathaniel Philbrick, where he portrayed the character of Owen Chase. 

Chris Hemsworth also lent his voice to video games, he voiced the character of Thor for Thor: God of Thunder (2011) and Kevin Beckman in Ghostbusters (2016).

Hemsworth reprised the role of Eric the Huntsman to prequel and sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman (2012), The Huntsman: Winter's War. In 2017, he cast in the sequel of 2011's Thor and he will reprise his role, Thor in the two upcoming American superhero film, Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and its untitled sequel, scheduled to release in 2019.

Hemsworth also appeared in the fourth installment of the rebooted Star Trek film series as George Kirk. In series, he played with William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, James Doohan and many others.

Chris Hemsworth's Personal Life

Chris Hemsworth is happily married to Spanish actress, Elsa Pataky. They first met in early 2010 through the help of their mutual friend and after few meetings, they eventually fell in love. The duo tied the knot after less than a year of dating on December 2010 at an intimate ceremony. 

Hemsworth is 7 years junior to his wife. The couple shares three children, a daughter, India Rose Hemsworth (born in 2012) and twin son, Tristan Hemsworth and Sasha Hemsworth (born in 2014). 

In 2015, Hemsworth and his family moved to his home country, Australia from Los Angeles as he realized he didn't need to be in the US in order to secure his film work.

Currently, the husband-wife duo is busy with their new venture, 12 Strong where they play each other's love interest. The movie is based on the first Special Forces team that's deployed to Afghanistan following the events of 9/11. Often in interviews, Pataky appreciates her husband's work and his fatherhood.
