Algeria is one of the African countries that lies in the Maghreb region of North Africa on the Mediterranean coast. The capital of Algeria is Algiers. Algeria is officially called People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria. The motto of the country is “By the people and for the people.” Algeria occupies the area of 2,381,741 sq km which makes it stand the world’s 10th largest country and the largest one in Africa. Algeria shares its border with Tunisia in Northeast, Libya in east, Morocco in the west, Western Sahara, Mauritania and Mali in southwest, Niger in the southeast and Mediterranean sea in the north. Algeria is the world’s 35th populous country. Algeria is the member of African Union, Arab League, OPEC and the United Nations. It has the second largest military in North Africa with the largest budget in defense in Africa. It has peaceful nuclear program since 1990. Algeria is rich in hydrocarbons deposit. It supplies natural gas to Egypt which has been the backbone of the country’s economy. It is ranked 17th in the oil reserves in the world. Algeria is basically a Muslim Country. Algeria is a beautiful country rich in natural and cultural beauty. The people of Algeria are called Algerians. Algeria is famous in Men’s Football in the world having been participating in World FIFA Cup as one of the strong team.
