Bob was employed at KTTS-FM radio while he was in his college days. In California,1950 he hosted his own radio show The BoBarkerer Show for six years.

From 1957 to 1958 he co-hosted End of the Rainbow along with co-host Art Baker. He and Baker would visit places and bring pleasant surprises who were in desperate need of help.

In 1967 he hosted ABC's The Family Game where children as contestants would question on their families in order to guess the answer.

From 1978 to 1986 he hosted as well as produced The Bob Barker Fun and Game Show.

In 1996 he appeared in the film Happy Gilmore starring Adam Sandler. In the movie, he portrayed as himself where he had a scene where he fights with Sandler. The film won an MTV Movie Award for best fight.

Following his retirement from the game show, The Price Is Right he made two guest appearances to celebrate his 90th birthday and to promote his autobiography Priceless Memories.
