Vanessa Bryant Files Lawsuit Against Helicopter Company After Kobe Bryant Death

  • Vanessa Bryant has filed sued Island Express Helicopters, after her husband Kobe Bryant and daughter Gianna died in a helicopter crash.

It's been nearly one month since Kobe Bryant, and his daughter, Gianna Bryant, died in a helicopter crash and his wife, Vanessa Bryant, has now filed a wrongful death suit against the helicopter company, Island Express Helicopters.

She sued the company in Los Angeles County Superior Court, claiming that pilot Ara Zobayan was "negligent" and failed "to use ordinary care in piloting the subject aircraft." Zobayan was also among the killed people in the crash.

In the complaint she filed, she states that the pilot, 50, should not fly the helicopter in foggy and potentially blinding conditions but have to abort the flight.

It also alleges that the helicopter was flying at 180 mph before it collided into a hillside in the Calabasas, Los Angeles. In addition to Kobe, Gianna and Zobayan, six more people were killed in the tragedy.

In the suit, Vanessa, 37, has asked for general, economic and punitive damages. The amount has not been listed.

The lawsuit filing comes shortly before the public memorial service for the late athlete and his daughter held at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The servie was attended by Shaquille O’Neal, Kanye WestKim Kardashian, Gabrielle UnionDwyane Wade, Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez.
