The 24th edition of the Screen Actors Guild Awards was held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Sunday 21 January. The Kristen Bell hosted SAG awards kicked off as usual with actors discussing how they became actors. However, this year only female actors spoke.

Actor and producer Morgan Freeman, 80 was honored with the SAG Lifetime Achievement Award for his body of work. While collecting the Lifetime Achievement Award he left the SAG audiences on its feet with his terse speech on the Hollywood's gender inequality. Freeman said,

I wasn't going to do this; I'm going to tell you what's wrong with this statue. It works from the back, but from the front, it's gender specific. Maybe I started something.

Freeman received the standing ovation for his worthy words after which he said, "This is beyond honor, this is a place in history.".
