Emmy Award winner Eileen Atkins is an English actress and screenwriter. She gained fame from her role in television series Cranford, The Unexpected Man and Honour. She has also created Upstairs Downstairs and The House of Elliot.

Eileen's father Arthur Thomas Atkins worked as a gas meter reader while her mother Annie Ellen Elkins was a barmaid. She was raised along with her sister Judi Dench.
