Joan Lin And Jackie Chan's Married Life Since 1982
Joan Lin Feng Jiao is a former Taiwanese actress known for her role in The Story of a Small Town. Lin was around 25 while she met her husband and the renowned martial artist-actor Jackie Chan.
The pair started dating just after a few meetings and got into a serious relationship. They spent several romantic times together before they got married in 1981 in a coffee shop in LA.
The 64-year-old Taiwanese actress Joan Lin and renowned martial artist Chan have been together for over 37 years and they have shared one child, a son Jaycee Chan together.
Lin was a popular and established actress while she started dating Chan who was just taking his big steps in the entertainment industry. It possibly was the reason why the fans did not appreciate their relationship at the time. Recalling the past, Chan said:
One day she told me she was pregnant. I said I wanted the baby.... Although I looked calm, I didn't know what to do,

During her pregnancy, I was working the whole time and didn't go to the States until she was going to deliver. A form needed to be filled in before the baby was born. She then asked me if she could fill in my name under the 'father' column; ... my agent said we should get married first.
Then the couple decided to hire a priest and got married in a private room in a coffee shop in L.A. The couple welcomed their son, Jaycee Chan in the same year. Lin quit as an actor and singer to be a full-time mother. Jacee has also followed his parents' footsteps and worked in a number of movies and TV series.
Jackie Chan Confessed He Was Forced To Marry Joan Lin
Back in 2015, the Oscar-winning star Chan admitted that he married Lin only because she was pregnant and he wanted the baby.
Chan said:
"It was an accident which conceived Jaycee. I had never thought of getting married, but I felt it was akin to being forced to get married,"
Chan also admitted he dated several girls while he was still married to his wife Lin with the hope he could find a perfect match for him, but ultimately he chose Joan.
Despite ups and downs, the power couple has been together for nearly four decades and still sharing a wonderful married life. Along with her husband, the former actress is often seen in various Awards functions.
Jackie Chan's Extramarital Affair Almost Led To Divorce
Jackie Chan cheated on his wife Lin several times during his marriage. While he was busy filming his moves, Lin was raising their son alone in Taiwan, and sometimes he even spent only two weeks a year with them. Chan also admitted he intentionally sent her less amount of money. It was reported that Chan gave Elaine 70 K HK dollars a month.
Back in 1999, Chan hit the headlines after his extramarital affair with Hong Kong beauty queen and actress Elaine Ng was exposed. The actress was pregnant with Chan's daughter Etta Ng, born in 1999.
Later he admitted his mistake and apologized saying "an error that every man in the world could make." Recalling the incident, Chan wrote in his autobiography, "Jackie Chan: Never Grow Up, Only Get Older":
I wanted to call her but didn't know what to say. I couldn't explain away such a mistake. Saying sorry wasn't enough. Later I thought, there's no need to explain, just get a divorce. I made such a big mistake. There is going to be a divorce.
Lin, however, continued becoming a virtuous wife and forgave him. Chan and Lin's relationship improved after their son, Jaycee was imprisoned for drug possession in August 2014.
Despite several ups-and-downs in their relationship, Chan and Lin have been able to overcome the difference between them, and they are still married. Chan has also admitted Lin is "the only love of his life" in 2015.
