Siobhan Finneran was born on 2nd January 1966 in Oldham, Lancashire. She was born to immigrant Irish parents. She was fascinated by a performance of the celebrated English comedian Eric Morecambe during her childhood days. Later, she studied theater course and started performing in several college plays.
Siobhan Finneran got her first major role as an actress in the 1986 film named Rita, Sue and Bob Too as character Rita. Then she appeared in the TV series Coronation Street as character Josie Philips.
Siobhan Finneran appeared in this series from 1989 to 1990. Siobhan then went on to act in TV series Motormouth as character Milly from 1991 to 1992, thus appearing in 32 episodes.

The subsequently in 2010 she was cast as character Sarah O’Brien in TV series Downton Abbey. She appeared in 25 of its episodes from 2010 to 2013 and then finally left to spend more time with her family and especially kids.
