Rune was born to parents Ingar and Svanhild. His father is a retired businessman while his mother served as a caregiver. He was raised along with his sibling brother, Truls.
He left playing football for making his career as an actor. He took training at the Drama Studio London from 1993 to 1994. Later, he again started playing football for Tooting and Mitcham United F.C. throughout his training.
