Television actor and producer Nicholas Gonzalez is best known for his roles, Alex Santiago in the television series Resurrection Blvd, Dante Ramon/ Rupture in The Flash and Detective Marco Furey in Pretty Little Liars. As of 2018, he is portraying the lead role of Neil Melendez on ABC's The Good Doctor.
Early Life Of Nicholas Gonzalez
Nicholas Gonzalez was born Nicholas Edward Gonzalez on January 3, 1976, in San Antonio, Texas, USA. He is of Mexican descent. Further information about his parents and other family members are not revealed.
He attended Central Catholic High School in San Antonio, Texas, and graduated from Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in literature.
Moreover, his interest in literature, poetry, history led him to two terms at Oxford University in England. He returned to Europe on a research grant where he studied with scholars at Oxford and Trinity College, Dublin to complete his thesis on James Joyce's Ulysses.
Nicholas Gonzalez's Career
After completing his graduation Nicholas Gonzalez was approached to do a one-man theatre piece called Gas by Maria Irene Fornes. Later on, Alma Martinez, an actress and Stanford professor inspired Gonzalez to be a professional actor. With her support, he connected with the theatrical movement in San Francisco.
He strengthened his skills and by playing in the classic and contemporary theatre. He once declared that he felt happy when he is on stage.
Later in 1998, Gonzalez moved to LA and appeared in small parts in television series like ABC's Dharma and Greg and NBC's One World. Then he appeared as the son of Fidel Castro in the Lifetime Original movie, My Little Assassin, alongside Joe Mantegna and Gabrielle Anwar.
However, Gonzalez gained huge attention from his role, Andy who was the gau yuppie on MTV's Undressed which was aired on MTV from July 26, 1999, to September 5, 2002. He was able to wow viewers till six nights and those episodes became the most requested in the series history.
Likewise, Gonzalez made his movie debut in Scenes of the Crime which was premiered at the 2001 Cannes Flim Festival. The movie was directed by Dominique Forma with actors such as Jeff Bridges, Jon Abrahams, and Noah Wyle. He also starred along with some of the renowned stars including Mena Suvari, Mickey Rourke, Brittany Murphy, and John Leguizamo in Spun which featured in 2003 Sundance Film Festival.
Gonzalez's other most well-known role came in the year 2000 when he appeared as a lead in Showtime's original series Resurrection Blvd which was released on 26 June 2000. He portrayed the role of Alex Santiago, a pre-med student who dropped out of school to become a professional boxer.
At the same time, he also appeared in the series named Walker, Texas Ranger and That '70s Show. He was also seen in the movie, The Princess and the Barrio Boy alongside Marisol Nichols. The movie was released as She's in Love in Europe. Similarly, in 2003 he starred in Sea of Dreams which was filmed in Veracruz, Mexico. Then in summer, he went to Fiji where he completed production of Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid. In 2009 he played in the movie Melrose Place and in 2011 he played Mateo on the ABC show Off The Map.
Gonzalez was also featured in the Lifetime series Witches of East End. From 2016 to 2017, Gonzalez appeared in the Freeform's series Pretty Little Liars as Detective Marco Furey and also in Narcos as Agent Lopez. Nicholas Gonzalez is married to his longtime girlfriend Kelsey Crane. After dating for some time the couple decided to exchange vows on 16 April 2016. The pair welcomed their daughter, Ever Lee Wilde Gonzalez on March 1, 2017.
He is balancing his professional and family life successfully. Till date, there are no signs of their divorce as he is living a happy married life with her wife and a beautiful daughter.
Apart from this, regarding his past relationships, he had an affair with Regina King. However, their love relationship did not last for a long time and they separated in 2007.
