Buzolic went to De La Salle College Ashfield. He then won a scholarship to the Australian Theatre for Young People. In 2004, Buzolic graduated from the Screenwise Acting School for Film and Television.

Buzolic was the host of Nine Network's late-night television quiz show The Mint. He also hosted the Studio Disney show, which aired on Disney Channel Asia, Disney Channel Australia, and Disney Channel (India).

In 2005, Buzolic debuted in the big screen from the American comedy film, Dirty Deeds, playing an uncredited. He then appeared in two shorts movies, Road Rag as a Young driver, and My Greatest Day Ever as Coach.

Buzolic grabbed his first lead role of  Paul O'Donnell in 2008 Australian serial drama, Out of the Blue, alongside Sophie Katinis, Clayton Watson, Charlotte Gregg, and others. The same year, he appeared in Australian crime/mystery film, Offing David as David.

From 2012 and 2014, Buzolic portrayed the character of Kol Mikaelson in an American supernatural drama television series, The Vampire Diaries. He also played a recurring role of Dean Stavros in an American teen drama mystery-thriller television series, Pretty Little Liars from 2014 to 2015.

Buzolic starred as Jimmy Barnes in 2015 American television sitcom, Significant Mother, starring Josh Zuckerman, and Krista Allen.  As of 2018, he has been playing the role of Kol Mikaelson in an American television series, The Originals.

“She was the most beautiful girl I’d ever seen, and I said to myself, if I don’t talk to her I am going to regret it for the rest of my life. So I stumbled over and tried to have a conversation with her. When I realized she didn’t speak any English and I didn’t speak any French, I knew it was going to be difficult.”
