John David Whalen

John David Whalen is an American actor and producer, served as a lieutenant in the US Navy for 5 years. He debuted in the movie industry appearing in The Man Left Behind in 2008. He rose to fame after appearing as Kevin King in the 2010 action thriller comedy film, Casino Jack. As of 2018, Whalen is working in the most anticipated movie, The First Man alongside Ryan Gosling and Claire Foy.                      

Early Life And Education Of John David Whalen

John David Whalen was born John David Woodmency Whalen to John Whalen III and Linda Whalen on November 15 in Baltimore, Maryland. He also has a brother named Seth Whalen. His great-grandfather Raymond Bond was also an actor of the 1950s.

He attended the Boy's Latin School of Maryland where he discovered his interest in acting and lacrosse. Whalen was awarded a Presidential Appointment to the United State Naval Academy, a coeducational federal service where he studied till 2000 and achieved a degree in Oceanography.

He served as a Lieutenant for the US Navy for 5 years. During his enrollment in the US Navy army as a commission, he worked across the globe traveling from San Diego to London. 

For his contributions in the US Navy Army, Whalen was awarded many honors like Navy Unit Commendation, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation and so on. While he was working for the US Navy, he was an a s sistant coach for the lacrosse navy team. Whalen decided to end his navy career and resigned in March 2005.

He started in 2006 by appearing in various plays and in short movies. Whalen debuted in the movie industry in 2008 in the movie The Man Left Behind directed by Robert Matthews and the same year got cast in the movie A Hard Day's Work. 

Later, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a bigger acting career. After an impressive debut, Whalen was cast in a movie Casino Jack as K Street lobbyist Kevin Ring in 2010 featuring other actors like Kevin Spacey, Barry Pepper, and others.

He gathered lots of experience in this field by training with veteran acting coach Cameron Thor and even has produced some projects focusing on the reemergence of the masculine and feminine archetypes basically a human story. He has a good career in theatre as well and performs in plays in Los Angeles. Whalen did some roles in Darwin Fish, The Argument, and Snitch.

Whalen is gaining experience as a producer from Independent Film & Television Alliance since 2012 till present. He even was a Real Estate Salesperson for the Prudential Real Estate for 3 years.

He is cast in the 2018 awaited movie First Man which is based on the life of Neil Armstrong under the directorial of American director and screenwriter Damien Chazelle.  In the movie, he is playing the role of John Glenn, a US Marine Corporation's engineer, and an astronaut.

Whalen is cast alongside Ryan Gosling, Claire Foy, Kyle Chandler and Shea Washington. The movie is set to release on October 12, 2018.
