Rap king Jay Z has officially become the first ever rapper to become a billionaire. The rapper is also a fashion trendsetter, and sports management company owner. Jay took less than a decade in acc u mulating the billion dollar net worth.
Forbes announced Monday that the rapper had formally entered the billionaire club. Forbes' Zack O'Malley Greenburg wrote:
Less than a decade later, it's clear that Jay-Z has acc u mulated a fortune that conservatively totals $1 billion, making him one of only a handful of entertainers to become a billionaire—and the first hip-hop artist to do so.
The rap mogul, who was born Shawn Carter, has a $70 million stake in Uber, claims his ownership of the streaming service Tidal, ownership of the Roc Nation sports management company, $70 million art collection, $50 million in real estate. Meanwhile, Jay-Z's wife Queen B has an estimated net worth of $500 million.
As a matter of fact, music mogul Dr. Dre claimed he was the first hip hop billionaire in 2014 after he sold Beats Music to Apple. However, it was estimated that despite the deal with Apple had pushed Dre's net worth beyond $1.1 billion, state and local taxes ultimately nudged his net worth below the billion dollar mark.
