French professional footballer Benjamin Mendy is playing as a left-back for Premier League club Manchester City and the France national team. Mendy was born to Monique Mendy and Mendy Snr.Benjamin. At the early age of six, he started playing football at FC Palaiseau, where he remained till 2007. He then joined Le Havre's youth team.

Benjamin Mendy was interested in pursuing a career in football from an early age, and he began his career in the academy of second-tier side Le Havre, making 57 appearances for the first team before Marseille came calling.

On July 24, 2011, Mendy signed his first three-year contract with Ligue 2 club Le Havre. He then made his professional debut in the team's 2–1 Coupe de la Ligue second-round defeat to Amiens on August 9, 2011.

On 8 July 2013, Mendy signed with Ligue 1 side Olympique de Marseille. The same year on August 11, he made his club and Ligue 1 debut against Guingamp. In his second season with the Marseille, he was included on the 40-man shortlist for the "2014 Golden Boy Award".


Mendy played with 5 different managers in 3 seasons at the Stade Velodrome with overall 81 appearances and scoring 2 goals.


On June 22, 2016, Mendy signed a five-year contract with Olympique de Marseille's Ligue 1 rivals Monaco. He made his debut for the club in the first leg of the Champions League third-round match against Fenerbahçe on July 27.


On March 1, 2017, Mendy scored his first goal for Monaco in the Coupe de France against former club Marseille. He was a key part of Monaco's 2016–17 Ligue 1 championship season as he started for the team in 24 matches under Portuguese football manager Leonardo Jardim.


The same year May, Mendy became the 2017 UNFP Team of the Year, along with 5 of his teammates.

On July 24, 2017, Mendy moved to Premier League side Manchester City signing a 5-year contract for a reported fee of £52 million.


On September 29, Mendy playing against Crystal Palace, sustained an injury, hurting his right knee following a challenge against Palace forward English professional footballer Andros Townsend.


Mendy underwent surgery in Barcelona on September 29 and returned from injury on April 22, 2018, as a 75th-minute substitute for English professional footballer Fabian Delph in a game against Swansea City at the City of Manchester Stadium. Mendy has played 4 games for the club to date.
