Just hours after walking the red carpet with wife Cardi B at 2019 Billboard Music Awards, American rapper and singer Kiari Kendrell Cephus aka Offset has a warrant out for his arrest in the state of Georgia.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and WSB-TV, the police of Sandy Springs has issued a warrant for the criminal damage to the property after the rapper allegedly smacked a phone out of a man’s hand. The incident took place on April 22, Monday, at a local Target store.
Offset’s attorney Drew Findling said:
Kiari Cephus is being exploited by a type of person looking for his 15 minutes of fame and eventual payday. This incident, which took place when he was trying to buy items for his youngest child, was not reported to the police for four days.
Drew added that the so-called victim took the issue to the social media for an extended fifteen minutes of fame. He furthermore added that the felony warrant is disgraceful and should be dismissed.
Eighteen years old man, who is identified as Richard Andrew “Junior” Gibbons, took out his phone to take a video with Offset. But the movie did not go well and Offset told him to get that phone out of his face.
In the footage obtained by WSB-TV reporter Mike Petchenik, Offset can be spotted knocking the divorce out of Richard’s hand.
Richard has claimed that his phone set iPhone 8 worth around $800. The felony damage to property is around $500.
On the other side, Offset tweeted about the news via Twitter tweeting HARDEST THING I EVER DONE WAS BEING A BLACK MEN (TARGET) AND A RAPPER (TARGET) s— is crazy !!! before quickly deleting it.
