Michael Nyqvist
Rolf Åke Mikael Nyqvist better known as Michael Nyqvist was a popular Swedish actor. He was best known for his role as police officer Banck in the first series of Martin Beck films(1997) and Benny Söderström in Grabben i graven bredvid (2002). His other works like Millennium, Mission: Impossible– Ghost Protocol, John Wick, As It Is In Heaven is thoroughly popular as well.
Early Life Of Michael Nyqvist
Michael Nyqvist was born Rolf Åke Mikael Nyqvist on November 8, 1960, in Stockholm, Sweden to a Swedish mother and an Italian father. His adoptive mother was a writer and mother was a lawyer.
According to Nyqvist, his parents adopted him when he was a few years old. Later, he sent an emotional letter to his mother beginning with "I want to thank you for me being here...".
After several months, Nyqvist finally met his mother but she refused to disclose any information about his father. After going through fearless research, he found his father, Marcello, a pharmacist in Florence Italy. In his autobiography, Nyqvist wrote that he felt a sense of belonging and was no longer distressed of diffused.
Nyqvist had spent a year in Omaha, Nebraska as an exchange student where he learned about acting. After returning to Sweden, he was accepted at ballet school, but he dropped out after a year. Then he joined Malmö Theatre Academy to pursue his acting career.

Michael Nyqvist started his acting career working in theater plays. He made his screen debut in 1982 in Kamraterna playing a minor role. He got his major role in 1997 film, Beck where he played the role of a police officer John Bank.
In 2000, he starred in Lukas Moodysson directorial venture, Together which was considered as a breakthrough of his acting career. The movie earned him Guldbagge Best Actor nomination for his role.
Nyqvist appeared in the Swedish romantic comedy, Grabben I graven bredvid which earned him Guldbagge Best Actor award for his role as farmer Benny. He also played the lead role in 2004 Academy Award-nominated Best Foreign Film, As It Is In Heaven.

Michael Nyqvist's Personal Life
Michael Nyqvist married Finnish scenographer Catharina Ehrnrooth in 1990 at an intimate ceremony. The duo welcomed two children, Ellen Nyqvist (born 1991) and Arthur Nyqvist (born 1996).
Nyqvist was voted as 'Sexiest Man in Sweden' twice. He published an autobiographical novel, Just After Dreaming (Swedish title: När barnet lagt sig) where he describes his childhood and his quest as an adult to find his biological parents.
Nyqvist died at the age of 56 on June 27, 2017, after battling lung cancer for a long time in his hometown, Stockholm.
