Leicester City Owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Died In A Saturday Night's Helicopter Crash

  • Leicester City owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha has been confirmed dead in a helicopter crash on Saturday, 27th October.
  • The 60-year-old Thailand native's Augusta Westland AW-169 helicopter crashed at the King Power Stadium car park.
  • Police confirmed pilot, a pa s senger, and two staff members of Srivaddhanaprabha also died in the crash.

Leicester City owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha has been confirmed one of the five people died in a helicopter crash on Saturday night near Leicester City's King Power Stadium.

The club released a statement on Sunday confirming the 60-year-old billionaire's death. The statement said:

It is with the deepest regret and a collective broken heart that we confirm our chairman, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, was among those to have tragically lost their lives on Saturday evening when a helicopter carrying him and four other people crashed outside King Power Stadium.

The statement further described,

A man of kindness, of generosity and a man whose life was defined by the love he devoted to his family and those he so successfully led.

The club further said that a book of condolences will be opened at the King Power Stadium from 8 am on Tuesday, October 30.

The helicopter pilot, Eric Swaffer two members of his staff, and a pa s senger, Izabela Roza Lechowicz also died after the helicopter plummeted to the car park of the stadium just an hour after Leicester's 1-1 draw with West Ham.

Leicestershire Police said other two victims of the accident were Nursara Suknamai and Kaveporn Punpare, Mr. Srivaddhanaprabha's staff members.

Leicestershire Police said other two victims of the accident were Nursara Suknamai and Kaveporn Punpare, Mr. Srivaddhanaprabha's staff members. 

The helicopter blasted making a large noise after it plunged into the car park which even pulled the attention of the sports analysts who were doing the post-match show. It took around 20 minutes to extinguish the flames before the emergency services were able to survey the wreckage.
