Widely recognized for his portrayal of The Godfather of Gangsta rap, Eazy-E, in the 2015 American biographical movie Straight Outta Compton, Jason Mitchell is a highly appreciated American actor. The actor has won several awards including the African-American Film Critics Association Award for Best Supporting Actor and the African-American Film Critics Association Award for Best Ensemble for his significant role in the movie.

Mitchell has also appeared in a number of commercially successful movies, including Texas Killing Fields, Kong: Skull Island, and The Disaster Artist as well. He is also featured in Major Crimes and The Chi.

Early Life 

Jason Mitchell was born on January 5, 1987, in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. His mother was an army veteran. Thus, he spent his early childhood days growing up in various places in the US. He belongs to American nationality and ethnicity wise, he is Black American. He graduated from the Alcee Fortier High School.

Film Career

Mitchell started his acting career portraying a minor role in the 2011 crime movie Texas Killing Fields. The following year, he grabbed the role of Walter in the movie Contraband which became a commercially hit. 

Mitchell has also featured in Dragon Eyes and Broken City. His breakthrough performance was in 2015 when he portrayed the role of The Godfather of Gangsta rap, Eazy-E, in an American biographical film Straight Outta Compton. The movie made a whopping box office collection also.  

Mitchell’s other work includes Kong: Skull Island, The Disaster Artist, Detroit, and Tyrel. He has also played the character of Eddie in an upcoming action film, SuperFly directed by Director X.

Television Career

The actor landed his first TV role in 2015 playing in an American television police procedural series Major Crimes. He later featured in Freedom Fighters: The Ray. He has been portraying Brandon in the drama series The Chi since 2018.

Who is Jason dating?

The former Straight Outta Compton star Jason Mitchell is dating Mary J. Blige. The couple started dating in 2017. She is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. The duo first met during the filming of MudBound, in May 2016.

Mary filed for divorce from their husband Kendu Isaacs in July 2016, however, the divorce has not been finalized yet.   

Controversy And Rumor

In August 2016, Mitchell was accused of assaulting an 18-year-old girl. The girl named Emily Marquez told that Mitchell tried to kiss her neck and when she refused, he got angry and grabbed her wrist. She further added:

"He grabbed my wrist really hard, really tight, I got scared ... so I smacked him," she said. "I was walking the other way so he grabbed my hair and dragged me down to the floor."

She even threatened Mitchell to take legal action against him. She said:

"I'm definitely getting a lawyer. I want the truth to be out there."

Mitchell, on the other hand, did not comment on the incident directly but tweeted several times hinting at the incident.
