Finn Wittrock was born Peter "Finn" Wittrock, Jr. on October 28, 1984, in Lenox, Ma s sachusetts, United States. He is the son of Kate Claire Crowley, a professor, and Peter L. Wittrock Sr., an actor. He has a younger brother, Dylan. Wittrock.
He grew up at the Shakespeare & Company theatre where his father worked at plays and he often acted as a pageboy or messenger.
Wittrock attended the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts where he enrolled in acting. Then he joined The Juilliard School but dropped out to pursue his acting career. He moved to Los Angeles where he auditioned for roles in television but failed to make it.
