Uruguayan professional footballer Diego Lugano who previously played for a number of world-renowned football clubs especially his a s sociation with Parish Saint-Germain not only recognized him in the world of football but also won a number of prestigious titles with the club. Early Life And Childhood Of Diego Lugano 

Diego Lugano was born Diego Alfredo Lugano Morena on 2 November 1980, in Canelones, Uruguay to Diana Morena and Alfredo Lugano. He was raised up in Canelones along with his sister named Marianela Lugano

Lugano holds multiple nationalities which include Italian and Uruguayan and ethnicity wise, he has a mixed ethnical background. 

Diego Lugano's Professional Career 

Diego Lugano kick-started his football career with local club Club Atletico Libertad. He played his first match for his then in December of 1998. And he also became league champions with the club at the age of only 18. In 1999 Tota was transferred to Club Nacional de Football. And after few years there he was loaned to Plaza Colonia.

Lugano in 2003, Lugano moved to Sao Paulo FC. He led the team to the titles in FIFA Club World Championship in Japan, the Copa Libertadores, and the Campeonato  Paulista in the year 2005. The same year he became South America’s best defender. The following year, the footballer also played one of the key roles to become the runner-up stage of the Copa Libertadores.

On 21 August 2006, Paulo made his move to Fenerbahce for a reported fee of 7.5 million Euros. The contract was made for three and a half years. Following his mindblowing performance as well as his defensive partnership with Edu Dracena also helped the team to win the league during the club's 100th anniversary year.

Diego was suspended for five weeks after a red card in a derby match against Galatasaray. The card was produced during the 2008-09 season when in the match he clashed with Emre Asik. Diego is known for spectacular free-kick situations and presence in attack, and after the suspension incident, he became more celebrated among his fans.

The footballer signed a new 4-year contract with Fenerbahce in 2009.  On 27 August 2011, he joined Paris Saint-Germain in French Ligue 1 side. The transfer fee was worth 3 million Euros.

Diego was signed by Malaga CF on 21 January 2013 on loan until 30 June. But he could not stand out and failed to make his loan move permanent. He joined Premier League club West Bromwich Albion on 2 August 2013, the contract was made for two years. Deigo scored his first goal for the club in a 1-1 home draw against Everton on 20 January 2014.

Diego Lugano's International Career 

Diego Lugano played his first international match for Uruguay national football team in the 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifications match against Paraguay. Having represented his nation at two FIFA World Cups, two Copa America, as well as a FIFA Confederations Cup, the player also captained the team for 8-year. 

The footballer scored his first goal for his country playing in a 1–1 draw with Venezuela at Montevideo's Estadio Centenario. He showed his great performance and led the team to finish at the fourth place in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. On 20 June 2013, he netted his ninth goal in a 2-1 victory against Nigeria. The player, however, was not included in Uruguay's squad for the Copa America 2015. He was not listed for 2018 FIFA World Cup as well.

Diego Lugano has earned a lot of money from his successful football career which is yet to be revealed. But as per some reliable sources is believed to be more than $3 million. As of 2012, Deigo's annual salary was 3.96 million Euros ($4,620,726) and his market value stands at 1000,000 Euros. 

In the year 2006, the footballer made his move to football club Fenerbahce signing a contract of  €7.5 million.  

Diego Lugano's Married And Children 

Diego Lugano has been married to his girlfriend Karina Roncio for a long time. The couple has also three children Nicolas Lugano, Thiago Lugano, and Bianco Lugano. The couple is together for a long time without any rumors of divorce.
