In 2011, he was arrested and charged with bankruptcy fraud, followed by grand theft auto and drug possession charges on an unrelated case, as well as indecent exposure. He served six and half months in federal prison.

Cutter and Jamie-Lynn crossed paths in 2012, six years after her divorce, and quickly fell in love. They got engaged on January 28, 2013, and shortly after announced they were expecting a baby in February 2013. Their first son, Beau Kyle Dykstra, was born on August 28, 2013.

Dykstra had an early opportunity to make his debut in MLB but has primarily played for Minor League Teams, including Potomac Nationals and Hagerstown Suns.
