American TV journalist Cheryl Burton is a news anchor of ABC affiliated TV, WLS-TV. She is working in Chicago, Illinois since last 25 years. She anchors the 5 p.m. news show alongside fellow journalist Alan Krashesky. Burton is also a contributor to the 10 p.m. news program.
Cheryl Burton began her broadcasting career in 1989 at WGN-TV in Chicago. She then moved to Peoria, Illinois and worked at WMBD-TV from 1990-92. Before becoming a journalist, she was a part of the Chicago Honey Bears cheerleading squad for the Chicago Bears for three seasons from 1983-86. She was married to fellow journalist Jim Rose from 1986-95.

Burton was born on December 25, 1962at Provident Hospital, Chicago, Illinois, United States of America. She was born to a house decorator Lillian and an advocate consultant Neil Peter Burton. Before her birth, Cheryl’s mother had married Neil and thus we don’t know is her biological father.
She was brought up with her two sisters and a brother, William. Born into a religious family, she is a Christian and is an American citizen.
As a child, she attended the local Lindblom Technical High School in Illinois and graduated from there in 1981. Not a very talented student in a class, Cheryl was a good athlete who took part in games like high jump and running from her school’s team.
After graduating, she was enrolled at the University of Illinois where she studied Biology and graduated with Psychology as her minor. Her name was enlisted in the school's hall of fame in 2007. After she completed her education, she worked in a quite different field from what she had studied.

Prior to that, she appeared in a TV series named Simply Elegant. A year later, she moved to work with WMBD-TV, which was located in Peoria. From there, she moved to Kansas and worked a couple of years for KWCH-TV till 1992.
In 1992, Burton began joined the ABC affiliated WLS-TV in Chicago, Illinois. Since then, she is working for the network. She co-anchors the 5 p.m. news with Ala Krashesky. She is also a contributor on the 10 p.m. news show.
