Titled with Woman of the Year and 13-time Emmy Award winner including three Emmys for Best News Anchor, Carolyn Clifford is one of the popular and skilled reporters. She is working for the Channel 7 news station in Detroit, 7 Action News at 11 pm, WXYZ-DT Action News since 2002. She is also one of the journalists who was invited to the White House to interview Barack Obama.  

Early Life And Education Of Carolyn Clifford 

Carolyn Clifford was born in Detroit, Michigan. Her birth year is under review, however, as per the sources, she celebrates her birthday on her 18 April which tells us that her zodiac sign is Aries. She along with her eight siblings was raised on the northern side of Detroit. She is the youngest of nine children and brought up in the family with more than 40 grandchildren.      

Clifford completed her schooling at Benedictine High school and graduated from Michigan State University, earning a degree in Broadcast Journalism. She also studied metal toughness from spending time in MSU's Army ROTC.     

Carolyn Clifford's Career

Before she started her career as the reporter, Clifford spent most of her time in MSU's Army ROTC. Dedicated and hardworking Clifford started her career in the journalism field when worked on CBS affiliated in both Orlando, FL, and Lansing. However, her real professional career started off after she started presenting news at the small radio station in Lansing.   

After she worked on several television channels such as WPGH-TV, and WLFL-TV. She anchored the newscast in both the channel. Then in 2002, she was hired by WXYZ-DT Action News as station's health reporter where Chris Hansen has previously worked. In the same year, she joined the 7  Action News This Morning team.

Carolyn spent almost 13 years informing Detroiters on the latest developments in medical science and their importance in the community for which she was honored by the Detroit City Council and Detroit Urban League. Later she became the co-anchor of 7 Action News at 11 pm.

Throughout her career, she's interviewed famous celebrities including Oprah Winfrey, Barbara Walters, Michael Jordan, and Earvin Johnson. She was also invited to the White House to interview Barack Obama. Similarly, she has covered many wide range stories from hurricanes in North Carolina to former South African President Nelson Mandela’s first visit to Michigan after he was freed from prison.  

Talking about Carolyn's awards and achievements, she has received 13 Emmy Awards for her excellent reporting and anchoring at 7 Action News including three Emmy for Best News Anchor. Moreover, she also received awards from The Associated Press, the Michigan Association of Broadcasters. She has also been named Woman of the Year by the YWCA of Western Wayne County.

Regarding Clifford relationships status, she is a married woman. She married George F. Goss in a private ceremony including their close friends, family, and relatives. The couple is blessed with three children namely Airielle, James and Brooke, She is also stepmother to Alyssa and Gregory Jr.

Previously Clifford was married to a businessman, Frank Taylor who is the owner of the Detroit Fish Market, Seldom Blues, and Magnolia Restaurant & Bar. She was claimed for $100k when she could not pay one of her husband's due bill in the past. Her ex-husband defrauded the city of Detroit by utilizing the money generated from the business into other ventures. He did not pay $180,000 rent as well. They divorced privately after the incident.

Health Issues

As of 2018, Carolyn recently recovered from the surgery of fibroid tumors, it was revealed that a fibroid tumor about the size of a football and several smaller ones were on the verge of destroying her kidney. As her entire pelvis and abdomen were full with this fibroid tumor with the biggest one in the back and luckily no cancer was seen.    

Normally it took 3 to 6 weeks for recovery, but she was cleared to return to work in four weeks and she is doing pretty well now. Carolyn is very grateful towards her amazing doctors at Providence and her family for their full love and affection.
