Mexican professional footballer Carlos Vela is mostly known for his creativity, vision, passing, finishing, and dribbling. The Mexican ace currently plays for Major League Soccer club Los Angeles FC and the Mexico national team as a forward. Starting his early career joining the youth setup of Arsenal, the footballer played for several other world-renowned clubs like Salamanca, West Bromwich Albion, and Real Sociedad.

Vela's finest performance in the 2005 FIFA Under-17 World Championship which earned him the Adidas Golden Boot. He has also confirmed his spot in a 28-man squad for the FIFA World Cup 2018. 

Early Life And Childhood Of Carlos Vela 

Carlos Vela was born Carlos Alberto Vela Garrido on 1 March 1989 in Cancún, Quintana Roo, Mexico. He is the son of Enrique Vela, an iron welder from Campeche, and Nella Garrido. He has a brother named Alejandro Vela, also a professional footballer.

Vela started playing football by the age of four joining the local team Ko Cha Wolis. At that time, the footballer honed his formidable skills making significant development and progress. 

During his school days, Vela simultaneously played both basketball and football. He performed significantly in both games but later chose football over basketball. He got offers from many Primera Divison clubs after his finest performance in a local competition held in Ciudad Victoria, eventually chose to play for Guadalajara in 2003. 

Carlos Vela's Club Career 

Following his unusual forward skills and one of the vital role to win the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Championship with Mexico, Carlos Vela received a huge attention of numerous popular European clubs and eventually, England club Arsenal won the race for his signature signing him a five-year contract for a £125,000 (165,987.25). 

Carlos was later loaned out to Salamanca for the 2006-7 seasons. He also played for Osasuna on loan. It was announced that the footballer rejoined his old club Arsenal on 22 May 2008. He played his first game for the club on 30 August 2008. On 23 September 2008, he made full debut against Sheffield United in which he scored a hat-trick with the game ending in 6-0. His second goal was listed as one of Arsenal's Greatest 50 goals.

Due to an ankle injury, however, Vela was not able to play Arsenal's pre-season campaign of the 2009–10 season. On September 15, 2010, Vela netted two goals in the UEFA Champions League in a 6-0 win against Braga. He was loaned to West Bromwich on January 28, 2011, to play until the end of the 2010-11 season. 

The following year, Vela joined Spanish club Real Sociedad on loan and made 30 appearances with 12 goals. After a successful loan spell in Spain, he was officially transferred to Real Sociedad from Arsenal. With the club, he also won La Liga Player of the Month for December following his performance against several reputed clubs. 

After playing his final match for Real on 20 December 2017,  Vela made his move to Los Angeles FC on 1 January 2018. And he made his club debut on 4th March providing an assist in a win over Seattle Sounders FC.  

Carlos Vela's International Career 

Carlos Vela was part of the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Champ where he became the top scorer with five goals winning the Adidas Golden Boot and won the championship. And he made his full international debut for his nation in a friendly match against Brazil, on September2007. The footballer netted his first international goal on 18 October 2007. 

Vela also helped his team to qualify for the 2010 World Cup after scoring a goal and providing an assist in a 1-0 victory against El Salvador.

Following his involvement in a party on September 7, 2010, in Monterrey, he and his teammates were suspended from the national team on 21 September and paid approximately US$3,953 as fine. After his suspension, the head coach Jose Manuel de la called him but Vela did not answer any of his questions.

The forward declared his wish to play for his nation after the coach was sacked. After a three-year absence, Vela received a call-up to the Mexican national team in November 2014 and scored two goals in a 3-2 win against Dutch on 12 November. 

Vela was also part of Mexico squad in the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. He did not play in the final match against Jamaica after receiving two yellow cards in the quarterfinal and semifinal matches against Costa Rica and Panama, respectively. But Mexico won the tournament. 

In May 2018, Vela was included in Mexico's 28-man squad for the FIFA World Cup 2018.  They faced Germany in the first match of their 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign.

Carlos Vela is yet to be married. He was in a romantic a relationship with Mexican actress, Altair Jarabo in 2008 and the two parted ways in 2010. 

Shortly after that, the footballer was linked to Mexican TV personality Shanik Aspe but could not last long and broke up in 2011. He is currently dating Saioa Canibano
