Mars grew up in the Waikiki neighborhood of Honolulu along with his five siblings: Eric Hernandez, Jamie Hernandez, Presley Hernandez, Tahiti Hernandez, Tiara Hernandez. His father Peter Hernandez is of half Puerto Rican and half Jewish descent. His mother Bernadette “Bernie” San Pedro Bayot was of Filipino and Spanish descent.
