Former American Idol Runner-Up Lauren Alaina Engaged To Long-time Boyfriend Alex Hopkins

Former American Idol alum Alaina and her longtime boyfriend Alex Hopkins are engaged. The 23-year-old country singer shared a picture of the couple sharing a romantic smooch on Instagram on Saturday, July 21.
Hopkins also shared the same picture on his Instagram saying, "Ladies and gentleman, may I present to you for the first time, the future Mrs. Lauren Hopkins," in the caption.
Earlier this year, Alaina talked about her relationship with Hopkins in an interview with Taste of Country. There she said,
Everyone asked us if that was going to happen. I don't know! We have definitely talked about marriage, obviously. When you have been together for six years, it's bound to come up at some point.
She further said,
He's the most attractive man I have ever seen. Like every time I look at him--I mean, the older we get, the more attractive he gets and I'm starting to be like, 'Glad we met at 17 because you are way cuter than me.
The pair, who have been dating since 2012, is often spotted enjoying their time together in several public places and beaches. Two years back in October 2016, Hopkins recalled their first meet in an Instagram post. He wrote,
July 5th, 2012 this nervous 17-year-old boy would have done anything to make that pretty girl sitting next to him smile.
He added,
He never could have imagined that on October 14th he would somehow work up the courage to ask her to be his girlfriend, and for whatever reason, she would say yes. 4 years later she still makes me nervous, and I still do absolutely anything to see her smile.
"Happy anniversary @laurenalaina. This is just the beginning. I love you!", he further wrote in his Instagram post.
Before Alaina started her relationship with Hopkins, she dated American Idol winner Scotty McCreery. In an interview with US Weekly in 2011, Alaina said that despite all those buzzes, they maintained a platonic relationship.
