Yonka's husband, Ryan played college football at Louisiana State University (LSU) and was signed by the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2002. Ryan and Yonka have faced many challenges together, including Ryan's medical emergency in 2007. After a game in Denver, Ryan began to experience intense pain in his ribs and was taken to the hospital. It was discovered that his spleen was disintegrating due to a combination of extreme physical exertion and high altitude. 

Despite the risks, Ryan returned to the field in 2008 and played with the same intensity and passion that nearly cost him his life. His experience of nearly losing his life has changed his perspective on football, and he now views it as a blessing.
