Portuguese professional footballer, Willliam Carvalho is playing for Sporting CP and the Portugal national team as a defensive midfielder, wearing the shirt no. 14. He is one of the full international players for Portugal national team since 2013 and represented his national side at the 2014 World Cup as well as in the Euro 2016 winning the latter tournament captained by Cristiano Ronaldo. As of 2018, he will be representing his country in the FIFA World Cup which will be held in Russia.

Willliam Carvalho was born William Silva de Carvalho on 7th April 1992 in Luanda, Angola under the birth sign Aries. He belongs to Southern African ethnicity/race and holds Portuguese nationality.
Willliam Carvalho was born to Catarina Silva and Simão Carvalho. His grandfather Praia Carvalho and his uncle Afonso Carvalho are also footballers, who played for Angolan club Progresso Associação do Sambizanga.
At an early age, Carvalho moved to Portugal with his family, where he began playing football. He started showing his talents with the ball in the streets, and at the age of eleven, he was first picked up by Recreios Desportivos de Algueirao.
Willliam Carvalho’s Career
In 2004, Carvalho moved to União Sport Clube de Mira Sintra, where he was the youngest player on the team and became captain as well. The following year he joined Sporting CP at age 13 and debuted for the club coming on during injury time in a 1-1 draw against Vitória S.C. Later, he was sent on loan to C.D Fatima and ended the stint bagging 3 goals in 13 games.
Carvalho then enjoyed one-and-a-half season on loan in Cercle Brugge, starting from January 2012. His first goal for Cercle Brugge came on 7th April 2012 in a 6-4 home win against OH Leuven.
Carvalho then returned back to his native club for the 2013-14 campaign. His first goal for Sporting CP came on 27th October 2013 in a 1-3 defeat against FC Porto. So far, he has bagged 10 goals in 137games for his parent club.
William Carvalho's International Career
William Carvalho is eligible to join the national team of Angola and Portugal, however, he chose Portugal to represent internationally. While he was still in the Portugal U20 national team, Carvalho was offered to play for Angola by the Angolan Football Federation but he rejected the offer.
On October 2012, Carvalho debuted for Portuguese U-21 team, which ended in a 0–1 loss against Ukraine. During the qualifiers of UEFA European Championship 2015, Carvalho scored two goals, both of which led to wins against Norway and Israel.
The following year, Carvalho received his first call-up from the Portugal coach Paulo Bento represent Portugal in the “2014 FIFA World Cup” play-offs against Sweden. His first cap was during the second leg, as a sub in a 3–2 win. In May 2014, Carvalho was included in the 23-man squad for the tournament. He debuted in the competition during the second half of a group stage game that ended in a 2–2 draw against the US.
Carvalho was seen in all the games of the European Under-21 Championship 2015 and was selected as the Player of the Tournament owing to his displays, though he missed a penalty attempt against Sweden in the final.
In November 2016, Carvalho made his first goal in international football, which led to a 4–1 defeat of Latvia in the qualifiers of World Cup 2018. He has won 40 caps and scored 2 goals for his national side till date.
