Early Life of Thiago
Thiago Alcántara do Nascimento was born on April 11, 1991, in San Pietro Vernotico, Italy. He is the son born to former Brazilian footballer Mazinho (his father) and a former volleyball player Valéria Alcântara (his mother).

At an early age of five, Thiago started at the lower levels of Flamengo in Brazil. He later moved to Spain with his father, where he started playing with Galician team Ureca in Nigrán. He played with Kelme CF in 2001 and returned to Flamengo in 2005.
Thiago once again moved back to Spain and signed with FC Barcelona in 2009. His cousin Patrick was also playing for the club at the time. He made his debut for the club as a substitute for Eiður Guðjohnsen in the 74th minute of the game at RCD Mallorca for his only appearance of the season.
Thiago scored in Barcelona’s first La Liga match of the season in a 5-0 victory over Villarreal CF. He started as Barcelona had a 4–0 victory in the Club World Cup Final on 18th December, at International Stadium.
