A 29 Years' Old Female Journalist Shot Dead In a Terrorist Incident in Londonderry, Northern Ireland.

On Thursday night, a 29 years old female journalist by the name, Lyra McKee, an editor of Mediagazer based in Belfast, was shot dead in what the police claims to be a terrorist incident in Londonderry, Northern Ireland.
According to the reports, Violence broke out after the police started searches in the Derry's Creggan district. During the brawl, the dissident republican group new IRA threw petrol bombs, bricks, and bottles at the police Land Rovers.

The late Lyra was a journalist who covered the lasting effects of decades of violence in Northern Ireland and was considered "a rising star of investigative journalism." In addition to this, she was also announced as Forbes' 30 under 30 in media in Europe in 2016.
According to the a s sistant chief constable Mark Hamilton, the violence was a terrorist incident. Following the scuffle and the killing of the journalist, the police have launched a murder inquiry.
On the scene was also another local journalist, Leona O'Neill, who was at the scene in Londonderry. The journalist wrote on her Twitter that McKee fell beside a police jeep and when found, was rushed to the near hospital, where she expired.

Sinn Fein the deputy leader Michelle O'Neill also spoke about the incident. She said that she was "shocked and saddened at the tragic news" and called the murder a "senseless loss of life".
The murder of this young man is a human tragedy for her family, but it is also an attack on all the people of this community, an attack on our peace process and an attack on the Good Friday Agreement. I unreservedly condemn those responsible for killing this young woman.
The leader of the Democratic Unionist Party, Arlene Foster also tweeted,
Heartbreaking news. A senseless act. A family has been torn apart.
