Early Life Of Tchéky Karyo
Tchéky Karyo was born Baruh Djaki Karyo on 4th October 1953 in Istanbul, Turkey. He is French and belongs to the mixed ethnicity (Turkish and Greek). Soon after his birth, Karyo moved to Paris, France along with his family where he spent his most of his childhood.
The spelling of his name, Djaki was changed to French translation, Tchéky. He attended Cyrano Theatre and studied drama. Later, he became the member of the Daniel Sorano Company where he played many cla s sical roles.
Then he joined the National Theater of Strasbourg and acted in both contemporary and cla s sical plays. He can fluently speak Turkish, Greek, French, and English.
Tchéky Karyo's Career
Tchéky Karyo started his professional acting career in the 1980s in the French movie, The Return of Martin Guerra. Later he featured in several movies in a lead role like The Bear, ‘Isabelle Eberhardt’, ‘Nikita’ and ‘Vincent and Me’.
Karyo earned César Award nomination in the category of Most Promising Actor for his breakthrough performance in La Balance. In 1986, he was honored with Jean Gabin Prize in recognition of his acting performances.
He appeared in Hollywood movies too. Some of his Hollywood ventures are, The Patriot, American Revolutionary War, and The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc. Between 2014 and 2016, his career skyrocketed as Karyo received critical acclamation for his portrayal of Julien Baptiste in BBC One/Starz drama series, The Missing.
Karyo also enrolled himself in music and songwriting. In 2006, he released his highly acclaimed album, Ce lien qui nous unit and released a second album, Credo on his 60th birthday in 2013.

Tchéky Karyo is happily married to his longtime girlfriend, Valerie Keruzore who is a French actress. The duo exchanged the vow at an intimate ceremony in the presence of their closed ones and family members.
The couple shares a daughter, Louise Karyo. They are together for a long time and is blessed with a blissful relationship.
Previously, Karyo was married to Isabelle Pasco but they divorced after few years citing irreconcilable differences. They have a daughter, Liv Karyo and a grandson, Daniel.
