A South Dakota Woman Sentenced To 40-Years For Beating Her Son To Death
- Katrina Shangreaux, a 30-year-old South Dakota woman is given 40-year imprisonment for beating her son to death.

A South Dakota lady who beat her toddler son to death two years ago has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.
Katrina Shangreaux, 30, who pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for beating her 2-year-old son, Kylen Shangreaux, to death was given the 40-year of imprisonment on Tuesday, 17th July.
Shangreaux admitted to beating her son with a studded belt, throwing him on the ground, kicking him in the stomach and head and beating him several times, the Rapid City Journal.
The outlet further reported that Kylen had broken ribs, and had bleeding on the brain and abdomen. Even more, he had 111 external injuries with over 70% of his body covered in bruises.
The mother didn't call 911 for the next three hours after her son died while her mother, Sonya Dubray helped her with covering her crime scene and cleaning up the kid's body. The CBS news reported that Dubray also cleaned the baby's clothes misleading the investigators about the abuse from his mother.
Angie Shangreaux, Kylen's aunt who took care of him until Katrina regained his custody, reached the court for the Tuesday's hearing where she asked the judge to give the life imprisonment. She said,
You're the last person who can give Kylen the justice he deserves. I'm begging for what would be a lifelong sentence for her.
She then turned to Katrina and said,
I hate you. I will never forgive you. You deserve hell.
The a s sociated press reported that Kylen's father had been serving his time in prison for his abusive behavior to another son with his different girlfriend.
According to People, Shangreaux started beating her son on the early morning of July 28, 2016, when she discovered her son had wet his bed after she returned home drunk.
Before in March this year, it was reported that Katrina had agreed to plead guilty on the crime. Then, she filed the plea agreement in the court.
