Singer Kelly Clarkson Underwent Surgery To Remove Appendix Following Billboard Music Awards

Hours after hosting the Billboards Music Awards, singer Kelly Clarkson was rushed to the hospital to get her appendix removed. Clarkson hosted the award Wednesday night second time in a row before undergoing surgery.

The Because of You singer confirmed the news through a tweet on Thursday, 2nd May where she explained she broke down in tears after the show due to the extreme pain and she immediately flew back to her home on Wednesday night.

She further shared she had surgery after she reached Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, LA on Thursday morning. She wrote: "feeling awesome now!" as she recovers. Here is her tweet:

People reported the surgery wasn't the emergency procedure as the singer, 37 had been experiencing acute appendicitis for the last week. Further, Clarkson doesn't intend to remain down for long as she hinted to return to The Voice in just a few days for Monday's live show.

Clarkson recently relocated to Los Angeles with her husband, Brandon Blackstock, 42, and children due to work commitments. The lovebirds share daughter River Rose, 4, and a son Remington Alexander, 3 whom she welcomed in April 2016. Moreover, Blackstock has two children; daughter Savannah, 17, and son, Seth, 12, from his previous marriage.
