Philadelphia Marked Its Largest Drug Seize After Over $1 Billion Worth Cocaine Seized At Port
- Authorities seized over 30,000 pounds of cocaine at the Philadelphia ship port on Tuesday, 18th June.

Philadelphia made its largest drug bust on Tuesday after officials seized over $1 billion worth cocaine from a Philadelphia ship port that weighed more than 30,000 pounds. The capture is one of the biggest in U.S. history, said the US Attorney's office in Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
The Office wrote in a tweet:
Federal authorities have seized approximately 16.5 TONS of cocaine from a large ship at the Packer Marine Terminal in Philadelphia.
The tweet further said,
This is the largest drug seizure in the history of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
The office announced in a separate tweet that several members of the ship's crew were arrested and federally charged. Here is the tweet:

The U.S., Drug Enforcement Agency official, told CBS News that the bust was the third largest in U.S. history that stays behind 1989 downtown Los Angeles seize where nearly 43,000 pounds of cocaine was recovered.
The court papers obtained by Fox News revealed the search had begun on Monday afternoon after the ship arrived at the port from Liberia, however, the substances were only obtained after the drug agents searched the MSC Gayane with dogs.
Before arriving at the Philadelphia port, the MSC Gayane's ports of call were in the Bahamas, Panama, Peru, and Colombia.
