Daytime Emmy Award winner, Pat Sajak is a well-known television personality. He is known for being the host of the American TV game show, Wheel of Fortune. He is also a former weatherman, and talk show host. The versatile personality has written numerous columns for the conservative magazine Human Events as well as is a member of the Churches of Christ.  

Short Bio Of Pat Sajak: Early Life, Age, Height & Education  

Pat Sajak was born as Patrick Leonard Sajdak on October 26, 1946, in Chicago, United States. He belongs to mixed ethnicity and holds an American nationality.

Sajak is the son of Patrick Leonard Sajak & Joyce Backal. His grandparents were Polish. His father was a factory worker. After the divorce, his mother got married to Walter Backal.

Sajak has two brothers, David Sajdak and a half-brother, William Backal.

In 1964, Sajak graduated from the Farragut High School. Later, he attended the Columbia College Chicago & began to work as a desk clerk at the Palmer House hotel. During the Vietnam War, he served as Disc Jockey in uniform for American Forces Vietnam Network.  

He stands tall at the height of 5ft 10in or 177cm and as of March 2021, he is 74-year-old.  

Professional Career

Pat Sajak began his career after winning a contest on WLS radio shows being a guest teen deejay. When he joined Columbia College, the Broadcasting instructor informed him about the requirement of a newsman on WEDC, a Local radio station. He applied for the post & successfully grabbed it.

In 1981, Former media mogul Merv Giffin asked Sajak about his interest to host the American game show, Wheel of Fortune where he is a host along with Vanna White

He made history for having the longest career as a game-show host for 35 years and 198 days on May 8, 2019. In 2020, he was credited as Consulting Producer at the start of Season 38 of Wheel of Fortune. He has signed the contract as a host for Wheel until 2022 and the audiences are pretty excited to witness his next project.

For his work on Wheel of Fortune, Sajak has received nineteen nominations for the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show Host, winning three times.

Furthermore, Sajak appeared in the episode of Inner Tube on American sitcom, 'The King of Queens’ in 2001. He started writing for National Review Online and Ricochet.com in 2010.

Wife, Daughter, Family, And Kids

Pat Sajak has been married twice in his life. His first marriage was with Sherrill Sajak. The couple was married in 1979. He divorced his wife in 1986. However, the reason for their divorce is unknown.

After that, Sajak met Lesly Brown; a photographer. The duo had almost one year of a love affair and they tied the knot on 31st December 1989

With his diligence & patience, Pat Sajak has created his own identity.  In 2021, Pat's estimated net worth is around $70 million whereas the annual salary is around $15 million. In 2019, he was worth $65 million and around $55 million in 2018. He is considered one of the highest-paid television hosts.  

Sajak is an active supporter of conservative political causes. He is actively involved in social works as well. He donated over $17,000 to candidates and election committees, all a s sociated with the Republican Party.

In April 1991, the media personality bought the house, Severna Park, in Maryland. He paid around $1.275 million for the home. He also owns a house in Los Angeles. 

Does Pat Sajak Have Cancer? 

Sajak underwent emergency intestinal surgery on November 8, 2019, to remove a blockage. During his time in the hospital, his work partner White and daughter Maggie hosted the show. He shared his health updates via Twitter.

"I'm so grateful for all the good wishes during my recent illness. Happy to say that the worst has pa s sed, and I'll be out of the hospital in a day or two, then back to work (unless @TheVannaWhite has completely taken over!)"

He returned to work on 5th December 2015.
