Musical comedy star of the '30s and Bing Crosby co-star, Mary Carlisle died at the age of 104 on Wednesday, 1st August at a retirement community for actors in Woodland Hills, California.

Carlisle's son, James Blakeley III confirmed her death, however, he didn't provide any further details about her death.

The LA Times reported that she never revealed her real age, though she was believed to be 104 years. She was known to tell her visitors that her age was "none of your business."

Carlisle was born as Gwendolyn Witter in Boston, Ma s sachusetts on February 3, 1914. Her widowed mother brought her to the Hollywood after completion of her high school.

She made her Hollywood debut with some uncredited film roles in the '30s including Madam Satan (1930), The Great Lover (1931), and Grand Hotel (1932). Carlisle rose to prominence after she was selected as a Wampas Baby Star by the Western Association of Motion Picture Advertisers along with Gloria Stuart and Ginger Rogers.

Afterward, she started getting offers for several film roles like Should Ladies Behave (1933), and This Side of Heaven (1934). Overall, Carlisle worked in over 60 movies in her 12-year-long career in Hollywood.

She was famously known for her performance along with singer Bing Crosby in College Humor, Double or Nothing, and Doctor Rhythm. She retired from the movies in 1943 after working in Dead Men Walk along with the co-actors George Zucco and Dwight Frye.

She was married to James Blakeley from 1942 until his death in 2007. Her husband Blakeley was a British-born actor and was an executive with Century Fox studios and a production manager on TV shows like Batman.

Carlisle is survived by her son, Blakeley and two grandchildren.
