Mina Kimes began her journalism career in 2007, joining Fortune Small Business Magazine as a business journalist. She worked there for more than seven years until 2013.

Kimes won multiple prestigious awards for her work in Fortune which includes, New York Press Club, The National Press Club, and The Asian American Journalists Association amongst other places.

In 2012, she was honored with Henry R. Luce Award for her investigation named Bad to the Bone which exposed the unauthorized use of a cement to repair bone tissue with lethal consequences. Moreover, the Columbia Journalism Review also involved her exposes among its business must-reads article of 2012. 

The Following year, Kimes joined as an investigative reporter in the Bloomberg News Agency. She also won the Front Page Award for business reporting for her articles includes King Kat and The Sun Tzu at Sears. She then left the Bloomberg in 2014 to pursue her career in ESPN.

She has a tattoo on her right inner bicep inked by XLVIII which was dedicated to a Seahawk victory in the Superbowl series.
