Michael Sam is a former professional football player. He has played as a defensive end for the college football team at the University of Missouri. He rose to fame after being drafted in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL draft by the St. Louis Rams.
Early Life and Education
Sam was born as Michael Alan Sam Jr. on January 7, 1990, in Galveston, Texas, U.S. As far his nationality goes, he is an American belonging to the Afro-American ethnicity. He is the son of Michael Sam and JoAnn Sam. He is the seventh of eight children.
Sam attended Hitchc* * k High School in Hitchc* * k, Texas. He started traveling as a water boy with the school’s varsity football team while in the eighth grade. Later, he became a member of the team playing defensive end and offensive tackle.
Sam moved to the University of Missouri accepting a scholarship offer from the University. There he played for the Tigers, competing in the Big 12 Conference. He recorded 3.5 quarterback sacks, 24 tackles, including seven tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, one interception and one blocked kick as a redshirt freshman during that time.
Career
Sam started his professional career as a third or fourth round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. His performance in the NFL Scouting Combine in February was disappointing and lowered the expectations of the team.
Later, Sam played with several teams such as St. Louis Rams, Dallas Cowboys, and Montreal Alouettes. He signed a two-year contract with Montreal Alouettes on May 22, 2015, which later made him the first openly gay player in the league’s history.
Personal Life and Affairs
Sam has reached the age of 27 now. His birth sign is Capricorn. He is not married yet. He currently lives in Galveston, Texas. He earned popularity as the first openly gay player in the league’s history.
Sam was engaged to his boyfriend, Vito Cammisano, after a relationship for many years. The couple met while studying at the University of Missouri and started dating in 2011. He proposed to Cammisano in January 2015, after having an affair for several of years.
Sam has posted several pictures together on his Instagram account. The couple stayed in a relationship for around six months.
However, they had a very unpleasing break up after the six months of their relationship together. Sam deleted his Instagram pictures that he has taken with Cammisano after the breakup. Furthermore, Cammisano also posted a video on YouTube removing his engagement ring.
