She first came to prominence as one of the five winners of the reality show American Juniors, a children's spin-off of the most popular reality show, American Idol. She is best known for her role as Aria Montgomery on the Freeform series, Pretty Little Liars, for which won a People's Choice Award. Hale’s name is put after one of her great-grandmothers. Her mother Julie is a registered nurse professionally. Her older sister Maggie is a teacher. She was homeschooled, and during her childhood, she took both singing and acting lessons.
