Inside Biography

Michaels was born to Florence and Henry Abraham Lipowitz who is a Furrier in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. His religion is Jewish. He is the eldest from Lipowitz family. He has a sister, Barbara Lipowitz and a brother, Mark Lipowitz, who pa s sed away due to brain tumor. He studied at the Forest Hill Collegiate Institute. He graduated from University of College, University of Toronto. He has majored in English in 1966. Michaels started his career as a writer and a broadcaster. At first, he worked for CBC Radio. Lorne moved from Toronto to California in 1968.

He worked as writer for Laugh-In and The Beautiful Phyllis Diller Show. His first debut show as a writer, producer and a co-star was with Hart Pomerantz for a show The Hart and Lorne Terrific Hour which was a success in the early 1970s and in early 1960s, he was married to Rosie Shuster who worked with him on Saturday Night Live but they got divorced in 1980.

Saturday Night Live is counted as one of the biggest hit show given by Michaels. In 1975, Michaels was hired by NBC as a writer along with Dick Ebersol to create a show to replace The Tonight Show that was running on Saturday Nights. At first, the show debuted with name NBC's Saturday Night but in 1977 it was changed to name Saturday Night Live. The show is performed in front of live audiences, this concept immediately build up a reputation for this show. The first host for this show was a comedian, George Carlin.

Over the long run of this show, it has launched many top comedians like Conan O'Brien, Jimmy Fallon, Bill Murray, Tina Fey and many others. He has been there throughout the whole season except in the early 1980s. After his break, he came back as a executive producer in 1985. Michaels was enlisted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in 1999. He has received a star on Hollywood Walk Of Fame and Canada's Walk Of Fame. He was also awarded with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2004. In 2006, For lifetime Artistic Achievement, he has also been awarded with the Governor General's Performing Arts Award. He was awarded with the Webby for Film & Video Lifetime Achievement in 2008. In 2013, he was awarded with a rare Personal Peabody Award.

Lorne Michaels has very determined personality and work hard for every little thing he does so it's not a surprising fact that he has earned so much for himself and his family. Unlike his successful career, his past relationships was a mess. In 1967, Michaels was first married to Rosie Shuster but they got separated in 1980 through the process of Divorce.Their relationship didn't go well as they thought. Then he again married to a model Susan Forristal in 1984 but again Michaels relationship came to an end in 1987.

Presently, his current wife is Alice Barry whom he married in 1991. Although his past relationships didn't go as he thought, his current relationship seems healthy and he seems happy with his new family and his success. At the age of 72, today also he is still producing the top shows in America.

Michaels being a writer and producer, it's would not be a surprising fact that he has over millions of net worth and bank balance. He has a net worth of $350 Million which means he earns quite big amount of salary. He has three children (Sophie, Edward and Henry). He used to live in a house in Amagansett, NY.

Then in 2010, himself and his family bought a new house for $6,70,000 in the Equestrian Club Estates and moved in. And in 2013, they again bought a new house in Wellington Florida for 12 Million Dollars. His Wellington house is of 4 Acres. His daughter loves riding horses so they have like 22 horses  and a small swimming pool. He possess a height of 5 Feet and 7 Inch. His exact weight is not published.
