American singer-songwriter Leon Redbone, who was an early musical guest on Saturday Night Love, pa s sed away at the age of 69. He died in the early Thursday, 30th May.
Leon had retired in 2015 after suffering health problems. Over his career, he released sixteen full-length albums. The exact reason behind his death is not revealed.
A post on Leon’ site announced his death news. The post read:
He departed our world with his guitar, his trusty companion Rover, and a simple tip of his hat.
To his fans, friends, and loving family who have already been missing him so in this realm he says, ‘Oh behave yourselves. Thank you … and good evening everybody.
Leon was survived by his wife, Beryl Handler and two daughters (Blake and Ashley) and three grandchildren. His wife previously worked as his manager.
Leon, who was born on 26th August 1949, in Nicosia, Cyprus, first stepped into the spotlight in the Seventeen, after Bob Dylan praised his work during an interview with Rolling Stone.
During the interview, Dylan revealed that he was so impressed with Leon’s work that he claimed the magazine, he would sign him on as his first client.
Leon even made a name for himself in the world of talk shows becoming a recurring guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Carson.
After one of his most famous songs, he was the subject of 2018 doc u mentary, Please Don’t Talk About Me When I’m Gone.
