In 2005, Gaga was signed by Def Jam Records but only to be dropped just months later. Failing to make a mark at her first big opportunity, Gaga had to make a shift at clubs on New York City’s Lower East Side. There, she got an opportunity to collaborate with several rock bands and also, to begin her experiment with fashion. At around 2007, when she was working at Interscope Records, writing songs for artists like Britney Spears and Pussycat Dolls, she caught the attention of R&B singer Akon. Akon signed her to his label and Gaga got a chance to record her debut album, The Fame. The album was a success, not just in the United States.
