North Korea’s second leader Kim Jong-il’s eldest son Kim Jong-nam died on 13 February 2017 after being exposed to VX nerve agent at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Malaysia.
Siti Aisyah, Indonesian woman and Doan Thi Huong, Vietnamese woman were charged with murder. The women thought that they were part of a television prank.
Back in March 2019, Indonesian woman Siti was freed after dropping the charges against her. Now, the Vietnamese woman Doan pleaded guilty to a lesser charge. Doan was sentenced to around three years and four months in prison, but the lawyer now reveals that she would be probably be freed in the coming month, May.
Malaysian prosecutors offered to lesser the murder charge against her following the release of her co-accused Siti last month.
Thirty years old Doan smiled in the court after she heard that prosecutors would proffer to drop the charge of murder and would be replaced by a lesser charge.
After Kim Jong-nam’ half-brother Kim Jong-un became North Korea’s ruler in 2011, Jong-nam told his friends that he was no longer safe. Two women killed him, and the murder was likely to be ordered by Jong-un.
