Jaime King is an actress and a model. She is recognized for her roles in the movies such as Pearl Harbor and Bulletproof Monk. She is also popular for her appearances in other movies like Sin City and My Bloody Valentine 3D.
Early Life and Education
She was born on 23rd April of the year 1979, in Omaha, Nebraska in U.S.A. She is an American by nationality belonging to the White-American ethnicity. She is the daughter born to Nancy King and Robert King.
Her parents used to call her with the nickname they gave to her in her childhood and the names were Jamie King and James King.
She used her same name in her professions because her agency already had another Jaime who was very famous than her. She was actually named after Lindsay Wagner’s character Jaime Sommers in 1970s series The Bionic Woman.
Her father’s name is Robert King while her mother’s name is Nancy King. Her mother was a former beauty queen. Apart from her, the family had a daughter named Sandy and a younger brother named Barry.
In 1994, when she was around 15 she had to face her parent’s divorce. She had joined Nancy Bounds’ Studios which was a modeling school. In 1995 she was dropped out of the Westside High School and after that, she started to be more focus on her modeling career and she started her modeling in New York. Later she joined the University of Nebraska in a home-study program.
Career and Struggle
Her first exposure was from Nancy Bounds’ studios which were when she was around 14.When she was spotted in graduation fashion she was invited to New York City to being modeling professionally.
In March 1994 she made traveling to New York for test pictures and got a positive response. In the same year, she got an advertisement for Abercrombie & Fitch. She has been featured in some magazines like Mademoiselle, Vogue, Allure, and Seventeen.
She was also featured in Glamour and Harper’s Bazaar. In 1996 she was featured in New York Times Magazine. In 1998 she started to work as co-host House of Style –MTV’s fashion series.
Apart from modeling, she has also worked as a spokes model for the campaign of Revlon. In 1999 she debuted from Happy Campers. In 2001 and 2003 she got nominated for the Best Actress Exclusive Awards.
She also appeared in a music video of “Take a Picture”. She also made her appearance in a film Bow. Her first appearance in a huge budgeted movie was Pearl Harbor.
In 2002, she was seen in comedy movie Slackers, Four Faces of God, White Chicks and Lone Star State of Mind.
Similarly, in 2004 she was in film Bulletproof Monk. She also appeared in a music video of song “Sexed Up”. She has already won the award for outstanding directing and outstanding writing at BET Comedy Awards.
In 2005 she started playing more movies. She was seen in Pretty Persuasion, Sin City, Cheaper by the Dozen and Two for the Money. On Television she made her guest appearance on drama O.C and got featured in a music video “Chariot”.
In 2006 she in The Alibi, True True Lie, The Tripper, The Cla s s, They wait and The Spirit. She also won People Choice Award for Favorite New TV Comedy in 2007.In 2009 she was seen in a movie My Bloody Valentine 3D.
Similarly, she was also seen in some movies like Fan boys, Act I, The Pardon, A Fork in the Road, Sin City 2, Mother’s Day and Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Lately, she was seen in a music video Summertime’s Sadness.
Personal life
When she was just a started in modeling she was trapped in addiction of taking he r o i n. She was an addict from her age of 14 to 18.Her then boyfriend Davide Sorrenti died of excessive he r o i n use. His death created an impact on her and thus she went to rehab for her addiction in both alcohol as well as he r o i n.
In 2005, she met Kyle Newman with whom she started dating after few months of friendship. In 2007 got married to Newman. On October 6 the pregnant lady King became a mother to a child who was a son and he was named James Knight Newman.
