When a small plane went down off the coast of Roatan island in Honduras, five people (four Americans and a Canadian pilot) lost their lives.
Armed Forces spokesman Jose Domingo Meza confirmed the nationalities of those people who were killed in Saturday’s plane crash.
The Piper Cherokee Six plunged into the Atlantic a couple of minutes after takeoff from the famous tourist destination of Roatan en route to the port of Trujillo
In a statement, the military claimed that the rescue boats along with the police divers and firemen found four injured bodies shortly after the crash. The injured was taken to a hospital where he was announced death because of internal injuries.
The Global Affairs Canada confirmed the death of a Canada. Likewise, the US State Department also confirmed that four US citizens died in the incident. They did not release names.
However, Honduran authorities revealed that the pilot was Patrick Forseth who is of Canadian nationality. He developed tourist projects in Trujillo Bay area.
Before dying, Patrick was dragged into a legal dispute with Afro-indigenous Hondurans. He was accused of developing their ancestral lands into vacation properties for international tourists.
On the other side, Patrick defended the accuse claiming that the company had purchased the land in 2013.
