George St-Pierre is back to UFC champions rank after a thrilling victory against Michael Bisping through third-round submission. Winning the title on Saturday evening, Pierre has become the fourth man to win titles in two divisions.
It was the first match for the former welterweight champion since his comeback from a four-year hiatus and has claimed the title from Bisping, who has the most wins in UFC history.
UFC reached the Madison Square Garden for the second time with an impressive card featuring three title fights. Surprisingly, all three matches ended with all three title changes.
After the evening summed up with three new winners, the UFC president Dana White said,
I always say this sport is about holy s**t moments. This was the holy s**t card.
Among three new champions, the most surprising result came in the women's category where previously undefeated strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzjczyk lost to Rose Namajunas.
Later in the evening, TJ Dillashaw reclaimed the bantamweight title against Cody Garbrandt.
