Canadian-American magician, Shin Lim gained a huge fame after winning the season 13 of the talent reality show America’s Got Talent. He is famous for his artistic and creative magic tricks like 52 Shades of Red.

5. Shin Lim Became A Sensation Overnight After Participating In America’s Got Talent Season 13
Canadian-born magician Shin Lim participated in the season 13 of America’s Got Talent in July 2018. In AGT, he showed variations of his magic tricks, and his unique and mesmerizing tricks helped him to grab a huge attention.
In final night on 19 September 2018, he performed few incredible magic tricks with adding relevant music. He started his trick by playing the piano and showed some artistic card and magic. Eventually, host Tyra Banks declared him as the winner of the 13th season of America’s Got Talent.
After winning the show, he received a cheque worth of $1.37 million and a three-night residency in Las Vegas with other finalists of the show.
4. Shin Lim Hails From Asian Heritage
Shin Lim was born in Canada as the second children of the Singaporean-born Canadian citizen. He hails from Singaporean heritage. His family returned to Singapore when he was 2 and grew up there. When he was 11, he moved to Ma s sachusetts, the U.S. along with his family.
He was interested in music since he was 9 when his grandmother gifted him a violin. Later, he smashed it and started playing the piano. He enrolled at the School of Music at Lee University Tennessee to continue his further education in music.
3. Shin Lim Is A Self-Taught Magician
Shin Lim is an almost self-taught magician. Initially, his brother inspired him to be a magician, and later he learned basic and advance magic tricks from YouTube. He became interested in magic when he saw a card trick called the Slip Force.
Immediately, he asked his brother how to perform that trick- his brother replied to go and watch on YouTube to know the tricks.

He eventually began watching magic tricks tutorials on YouTube and used to practice those tricks for countless hours indeed he fell in love with an aura of magic.
After some time, he started creating his original ideas in his magic and dreamed to be a famous magician in the future.
2. Shin Lim Has Been Featured In Numerous Television shows
Shin Lim has been featured in numerous television shows to show his magic tricks. In 2015, he went to a television magic show Penn and Teller: Fool US. The same year, he became the winner of close-up magic at the Federation Internationale des Societies Magiques World Championship (Olympics of magic), in 2015.
After winning AGT, he joined an elite group of people who were featured on The Ellen Show hosted by Ellen DeGeneres.
1. Shin Lim’s Career-Threatening Injury
Shin Lim explained during his latest visit on Penn and Teller Fools Us, his career really soared after appearing on the show. Unfortunately, he became seriously injured while rehearsing a new trick in March 2016.
He injured two tendons in his left thumb then went for surgery and was unable to perform magic for a month. Lim once thought that he would have to give up his career.
Luckily, he recovered quickly through intensive therapy sessions. After two months, he performed in a 30-min show and even pull off his trademark trick called 52 Shades of Red.
