Anna Sorokin, who posed under the fake name of Anna Delvey, stole more than $200, 000 from banks, investors, and many of her friends. She was convicted with multiple charges including one count of first degree of attempted grand larceny, the second degree of grand larceny, and theft of services after one month long trial in State Supreme Court in Manhattan.
According to the New York Times, Anna now faces up to fifteen years in prison. Twenty-eight years old Anna was charged in 2017 after she posed as a fake German heiress and New York socialite.
She swindled bank loans and several funds to pay for her lavish lifestyle which including her designer wardrobe, stays at luxury hotels in New York, and international getaways.
As per reports, Anna had attempted to raise $22 million to open an exclusive art club in Manhattan but failed to do so. She received another charge of first degree of grand larceny, but the jury did not find her guilty for the charge.
Besides all these charges, Anna was on the headlines for her style of dressing choices. She hired stylist Anastasia Walker to help her dress for her court appearances in designer labels like Victoria Beckham, Michael Kors, Saint Laurent, and many others.
Anna’s sentencing date is on May 9.
