Elaine Quijano is a reporter, correspondent, and anchor. She has been known for her work in the CNN as well as the CBS NewsShe started her journalism career as an intern at WCIA in Champion, Illinois, in 1994, and subsequently promoted to a reporter/anchor there.

Elaine Quijano was born in 1975 in the United States of America. She was brought up in Chicago, Illinois in the Skokie and Morton Grove suburbs. She is of American nationality and Filipino ethnicity. Her mother immigrated to the US from the Philippines.

She enrolled at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for her education from where she graduated in the year 1995 with a Bachelor’s Degree in journalism.

Elaine Quijano’s career started off when she began working as an intern in WCIA-TV. Later, she became a reporter, producer and an anchor there. Her skills led her to become the general a s signment reporter in the WFTS-TV in Florida next.

She started her work in the CNN affiliate, CNN Newsource on December 2000 and covered the US invasion of Iraq, Columbia disaster, Beltway sniper attacks, the Pentagon, Supreme Court, a re-election of George W. Bush as well as the 9/11 incident among many other such events.

After leaving CNN in December 2009, Elaine Quijano was called upon to join the CBS News in 2010 whereby she started off as a general a s signment reporter.

In 2011, she helped convince former President Barack Obama to send letters of Condolence to families of military members that had committed suicide. After her report, a policy was acted to make sure that correspondence was delivered.

She is currently working as an anchor of CBS Weekend News, This Morning and Evening News and was named the moderator for the vice presidential debate of the year 2016. 

In October 2016, she was named as the moderator for the vice-presidential debate at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia. She supported Hillary Clinton in the Presidential election of 2016. 

She became the first Asian American to moderate a US debate office in the general election. Quijano also became the youngest journalist to moderate debate at the age of 44.

Quijano was named as the moderator for the vice presidential debate on October 4, 2016, at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia, by the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD). She thereby became the first Asian American to moderate a U.S. debate for national elected office in the general election, and the youngest journalist to moderate a debate since 1988. It was also the first time a digital network anchor had been selected to moderate a national debate.
